This poem is to demonstrate how having hardship, such as being financial unstable, will show itself later in life as strength in a person.

Poor Bag Girl

Poor Bag Girl

Anger, wonder, deep depression
The solemnity of this soulless oppression
A man with a sign
And a girl with a bag
Who both start to wonder?
“Have I gone mad?”

No young child
You are not alone
But you are a lucky one!
Your spirit is full

While they stand at the top
With everything desirable
However, they forget,
They have lost something more valuable

So do not fret young girl
Because that bag seems empty
When you grow old
It will become full and plenty

Their hearts will decay
With the hands that they make
The eyes that they see
The food that they taste

So stand up tall
And do not worry
For the day will come
When you will be proud to say
“I’m glad I had nothing.”
