Think you got what it takes to get paid writing short stories? Or maybe you have already done it, and want to advertise yourself and your skills? Well if so, here is a site for you. Every Day Fiction is a online magazine which pays for short fiction stories. Although they do pay for the short stories accepted on there website, the benefits of writing for them go way beyond this. Read this article to find out more.

Every Day Fiction - site details

Every Day Fiction is a online magazine which is dedicated to fiction. It is a Canadian website, which allows fiction writers from all around the world, to submit stories on there website for pay, whether they are professional writers or not. The magazine was founded in 2007, and the company behind it is called Every Day Publishing Ltd. Every Day Fiction was one of the first sites of it's kind, to get rid of there printed magazine, and move onto the web. Since then the site has had a fair bit of success, writer's digest listed the site as one of the top 50 literary markets, and it has even had praise from a lot of different popular print sources, such as The Wall Street Journal, The Vancouver Sun and the StarPhoenix.

Writing for Every Day Fiction

Apart of Every Day Fiction fiction's success, has been the way they have used social media, with fans of the site being able to follow, read, vote and comment on the sites stories. One of the main things Every Day Fiction like to stress, is that there is no such thing as to short, when it comes to writing fiction. They let there writers know, that if they can write a brilliant short story in just 50 words, then they will accept it. They do give you the option to write up to a 1000 words, if that's what you need but they don't want any more than this.

The site is looking for exciting pieces of flash fiction writing, with at least a hint of a full story. Every Day Fiction state they want some sort of action in the stories submitted to them, rising moments and tension leading up to a climax. All genre's are welcome on Every Day Fiction, as well as stories which don't actually fit in to any genre. They don't want personal experiences or other non-fiction but they do recognize that these can be fantastic sources of inspiration, as long as they are turned into fiction, then they will be welcome.

The site is aiming for adult readers, so that cancels out children's stories, but they also are not looking for over the top violence, or anything too rude, they will not be impressed with over the top bad language either. Every Day Fiction is looking for original fiction stories, unpublished any where on the web, your story is not wanted even if you have published on your own blog, if found anywhere you will get a swift ban from the site.

You can submit a story through the sites online submission form, and not by email, although they will send you an email to verify your story has been submitted to the site correctly. Once you have submitted a story to the site, it can take up to 90 days for a response but the site says it will usually take around 70 days. Unlike a lot of sites which pay for articles online, you can not just submit as many pieces of work as you like, instead they have a maximum of three stories you can submit at anyone time.

Benefits of writing for Every Day Fiction

If it is all about the cash, then this site may not be for you, as it is not a massive earner. They do pay for your stories but they will only pay 3 dollars for any story accepted on to there site. If you do get a story published with Every Day Fiction, the benefits do go beyond getting paid. If you have a blog, they will place a link on your story leading to it, or if you have a book you have written on Amazon, they will link your story that as well, so it is a good way of advertising your other work online. Another way they will help you along in your writing career, is there Author interview, the story which gets rated the highest in any given month leads to this. This interview is a way for your readers to get to know you better, and is another way you can promote your blogs and books that you have already written.

Once an author gets a story published on this site, it will stay in there archives but copyright always belong to you, and you can have your story removed any time you wish, by just asking.
