A close look at what we do consistently across the board reveals that if one does not understand the purpose of a thing ~ including money ~ he will most likely misuse or abuse it.

Money Is Not Always The Answer

Life presents unique challenges to each one of us. It is not going to be a bed of roses all of the time.

Money can fix quite a few problems of course. But there are definitely many situations where the money itself becomes the problem.

Be patient ~ don't make a habit of spending more than you have. Spend some, save some and give some ~ is an over-all generally good idea to hold about money.

What Exactly Is The Purpose Of Money?

It is simply a medium of exchange. Money itself is neither good nor evil.

So very often it is not the money that's needed but rather favor or an opportunity. Thus the old adage: you give a man a fish ~ he can eat for a day. You teach a man to fish and he can eat for life

Can Money Buy Happiness Or Joy?

The short answer is that it absolutely cannot. It does allow a person to purchase items that can provide momentary relief from anxiety and/or hunger, etc. However that satisfaction is temporary. One way to happiness is found in Our Creator's Wonderful Book of Teaching on Life and Love in Psalm 128:2.

When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.

Also in Proverbs 3:13 we find this possibly difficult to grasp statement:

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding

What Does The Word Happiness Mean?

Happiness is defined at Dictionary.com as

pleasure, joy, exhilaration, bliss, contentedness, delight, enjoyment

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Be careful not to take this one out of context.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi

The Love Of Money

From Our Creator's Wonderful Book of Teaching on Life and Love in 1 Timothy 6:10 ~ we find this profound truth:

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Notice that doesn't say money is evil ~ nor does it say that desire to have money is evil.

We were not designed to fall in love with money ~ but to use it to purchase goods and services for our own families and to be a blessing to others.

Joy On The Other Hand Is A Force Of Strength

Joy - as defined at Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joy is an emotion in response to a pleasant observation or a remembrance thereof. ... Joy is usually expressed as a smile, a laughter or exclamation of joy

We find this in Our Creator's Wonderful Book of Teaching on Life and Love in The New Testament Book of Galatians Chapter 5, Verse 22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

Then in Psalm 16:11 this

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

When we look at Psalm 30, Verse 5 we see this incredible proclamation:

For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 89:15 offers this wonderful promise:

Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance

As You Move Past Where You Were ~ Let His Joy Remain In You

The One Who has been cited by many religious people as The Greatest Man Who ever lived ~ Jesus ~ is credited with making the following statements over two thousand years ago which are now recorded in the fifteenth chapter of the Gospel of John.

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full."

To have and hold HIS JOY ~ be willing to bow down and worship Him.

What an enjoyable piece. Money is responsible for so many "bad" things in our lives and the best things normally do not cost anything.

Thanks Helen for this comprehensive take on money, happiness and the way to live our lives.

We have been given everything and more to live in heaven right here. God seemed to have held our hands in the beginning. He has given us enough guidelines but greed and ego make mincemeat of an unforgettable outing for us all through an inclusive society.

Gandhi said - "we have everything for our needs but not the greed! siva

Thank you so much ~ Siva ~ for reading and commenting. I think you're absolutely right in saying that 'God has given us enough guidelines... ' One of the major problems seems to be that ~ when people do not accept God Himself ~ they are less likely to accept His guidelines. So round and round and round we go from generation to generation.

Thanks for your continued support and encouragement.

Blessings.

There are pros and cons of having money, if we say money is evil, nothing is free unless you have money

Thanks ~ Peachpurple ~ for your comments. I appreciate it.

Yes, I agree with you that there are pros and cons for having money. I endeavored to list many of them ~ and let's make sure that we clarify that ~ money is not evil.

Seems like throughout history mankind has proven through greed and different kinds of excesses that the love of money is the root of all evil.

Blessings.
