Nanoism is a site I came across recently for online fiction writers. This site is very different from anything else I have used. Nanoism want short stories, really short stories. They want stories no longer than 140 characters long, so they can tweet them. It is a challenge and can be fun. Read the rest of this page for a full review of Nanoism.

Nanoism

I find the internet an amazing place, especially the online writing world. Their are now so many great writing opportunities out their, and anyone is free to give them a go. Even the fiction world is booming, and writers can do well writing books and ebooks online. And then their is the many fiction magazines out their, who will all pay you for well written and interesting short stories. A strange but fun little site I came across recently, was Nanoism, this site is unlike anything I have ever tried.

Now I thought that flash fiction was a little short for a story, I mean I found it hard to write a decent story in under 1000 words. But Nanoism takes it that one step further. They are looking for stories as long as a tweet on twitter, which for those who don't know is 140 characters. I find it hard to tweet tweets that long, never mind write a story. But there you go, that is the challenge with Nanoism.

What do Nanoism want?

They are looking to provide stories for people that they can easily read whilst out and about on cell phones or on tablets and computers. They aim to provide short entertainment, which will fill in the cracks of your day. One really good thing about this site, is that they accept stories of all different kinds of genre's. They do not specify on the types of genre's they want most, but they do say they want interesting literary fiction.

Stories which will move people, and have staying power. Something which will really stick in someones mind, once they have read it. Nanoism really want you to get people thinking with the short fiction pieces you write for them. The rules are, don't post more than one story a week to them, and they want your very best, but who doesn't.

One nice thing about this site is that your not waiting to long for them to get back to you, like a lot of other fiction sites. They will get back to you in seven days, so your not waiting to long.

How much do you earn?

One of the main reasons people are going to want to use this site is to get paid, so how much do they pay? If you write something Nanoism see fit to publish, you will be paid, $1.50. Or you could try and write a serial of stories for them, and they will pay $5. It's not a lot of money, but its not a lot of work either, 140 characters a week. Its just of bit of fun really for people already earning through writing online. And it is a bit of a challenge, for people trying to improve on their fiction writing.

140 characters???

that's only around thirty words or so of five characters each.

Did you mean 140 words?

An interesting site that pays quite a lot then compared to most others, thanks Michael.

"Nanoism is a twitterzine, an online publication focused on nanofiction, which in this case refers to stories that clock in at a maximum of 140 characters (conforming to the inherent limitations of the Twitter service)."

I checked it out, you were right Michael. That would really be an achievement then to do!!
