This page is an overview of 3 popular sources of online income.

The Pursuit of Happiness

In 2010, during my pre-exist interview, I was advised upon retirement to: ( 1) find something new to do that I enjoyed; and (2) learn to live within my means or be prepared to work 3 part-time jobs. Of course, I poo-poohed this sage advise. Ump, how hard could it be to live on a fixed income? I was certain that I would be ok. I had a guaranteed private sector COLA and an AARP membership!. Besides after 30 years of labor, I gleefully envisioned the American promise. Clearly the pursuit of happiness was 'living the life of Riley'. Well, my retirement consultant certainly must have been a clairvoyant. Riley never had such a hard row to plough and my counselor was indeed, a seer because lo and behold that is what's trending now in my life experiences. Then as now, I knew that I did not ever want another 9 - 5 job. If I had to work beyond retirement, I was more inclined toward being an independent contractor, part-time employee, self-employed or work-at-home opportunities.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2012 the median annual salary for full-time writers who develop written content for books, advertisements, television and movie scripts, magazines, songs and online publications was $26.89 per hour. $56,000.00 per year for working at your ideal job is not a bad income by any means. Among part-time writers a majority worked from their homes. Additionally, it was reported that two-thirds of these workers also identified as being either self-employed or freelance writers. If you have a flare for inventing and re-inventing homemade meals, consider yourself a 'foodie' and/or have a collection of old recipes, you also have an excellent avenue(s) for increased online income. There are numerous opportunities to make extra money by sharing your unique culinary expertise. Moreover, if you enjoy the freedom afforded a freelancer and/or a part-time worker, you can effortlessly begin to benefit from earning extra income(s) from other online venues such as participating in paid survey panels and/or paid focus groups.

Pen & Paper Diversity

Many work-at-home jobs via the internet have resulted in various legitimate ways to generate passive incomes. No, you won't get rich! However, investing in yourself by spreading your talents and skills up and down the super-highway can bring forth an extra modest boost in your monthly income. In general, savvy investors did not put all their eggs in one basket. To wit, they benefited from their wise creation of a 'diversified financial portfolio' - so, why not you? Have you ever considered submitting different, original articles to multiple revenue sharing online publications? The more you do the more your income increases. Just expanding the use of your personal writer's nook can eventually mean an extra monetary increase. After incorporating the useful writing tips of seasoned moderators regarding article submissions and the constructive comments of fellow admired Wikinut writers, I summoned the courage to ventured out. Recently, I also began to produce and submit written content to other online publications such as Trinod. As a freelance writer, I strongly suggest that prior to joining another writing community that you carefully research the online publication's freelance writers agreement(s), payment source(s) and any information related to 'scam reports' related to that online publication. If the site begins to incur numerous 'technical difficulties' don't dally - diversify.

Chicken-Boxed Dinners

Alas, I did not pen Taste of Country Cooking which celebrates a historical culture of sustainable cuisine which is slowly being reclaimed by many African-American families. Also, I didn't pen Spoonbread & Strawberry Wine with its treasure trove of 'old-time recipes'. Although I'm not popular Chef Sunny Anderson or Chef Julia Child, the doyen of television cooking instructors, I can and do cook well. Repeatedly I have been told that my Emancipation Day Dinners are most memorable. Moreover, after a decade of hustling my occasional weekend pre-ordered, chicken-boxed dinners of savory buttermilk-brined, Cajun-spiced floured fried chicken, tender chitterlings, home made potato salad and fresh baked breads are still in demand. As of this publication these specialty menu items remain extremely popular among many local beauty and barbershop patrons. I enjoy cooking from scratch. I also believe every recipe goes better with the inclusion of at least 1 of the 3b's: bacon, butter and high-quality drinkable booze, but a recorded live video is truly not my style. I prefer to create clothed in my warm terrycloth bathrobe and comfortable well- worn house slippers. Thus, I shan't become a noted 'home chef' with a large following of subscribers and an episode that suddenly and unexpectedly goes viral on Youtube.

Cashing In

Numerous current polls show that 28% of retired seniors indicated that their 'preferred source ' of work-at-home income came from completing surveys. Many are cashing in via online cash paying surveys and participating in an occasional local area online paid focus group. Depending upon pre-survey qualifications and stated remuneration it is possible for participants to earn from $25.00 - $1,500* per survey completion. Higher payments are most often related to data collected for the *health industry markets. Legitimate research organizations pay participants. These research markets are free to join. Reputable companies do not require credit/debit card information nor request a fee for ' insider access'. Through personal experience, I am also familiar with website owner generate funds such as infolinks and affiliate membership associations. Currently, my preferred online payment survey sites are cashonly and Nielsen ratings.

If passion and desire, time, skill and inclination permit, I highly recommend casting a wider net. Give some serious consideration to diversifying your freelance income sources! Coupled with tenacity and reasonable goal expectations it is indeed possible to create at least $75.00 - $200.00+ extra income per month from various online income opportunities.

Thanks for your comment. Of course, being lucky will not hurt, but I've come to believe that most savvy seniors make their own luck by being more proactive when it comes to enhancing their personal economy.

Thanks for your read and comment. I have found success on 2 sites. The pay is small, but I have gotten paid. It takes time to accumulate reward amounts that can be transferred into cash but onlycash.com is the site I would suggest to you and opt for the reward coupon unless you want to pay out the PayPal fee for cash. Good luck.
