Many people today are having a difficult time with being able to keep up with the ever increasing cost of food.

This puts an added strain on many families as they must make the decision of whether they should buy food or pay the electric bill.

Angel Food Ministries has been the answer for many families who need to get more quality food for their money. This could very well be the answer you've been searching for.

What is Angel Food Ministries?

It all began when Pastors Jim and Linda Wingo began providing food to thirty-four Georgia families in their hometown of Monroe back in 1994 from their back yard patio.

With the enormous negative effect the closing of a large number of Industrial plants had on many families, the couple helped those struggling by providing them with the supplemental or extra groceries they needed to feed their families for longer periods of time.

The couple had created a plan set forth by their non-profit, non-denominational organization to provide anyone who needed help with food with at least a 50% savings.

Pretty soon Joe and Linda Wingo were helping a couple hundred of families in Monroe with food boxes that only cost about half of what they were worth.

A few years later after many churches inquired about how they, too, could provide this service to their community, Angel Food Ministries was providing relief to nearly half a million families in thirty-five states.

How Does it Work?

Angel Food Ministries does not use any second hand products, day old bread, dented cans or expired foods.

Angel Food Ministries uses grocery store quality frozen and fresh food items. A box will usually last a family of 3 to 4 people about 7 to 8 days and one senior citizen 3 to 4 weeks.

There are no applications or criteria one must meet in order to take advantage of the services provided by Angel Food Ministries.

The orders are taken either on the Internet or from a host site. At the time of placing the order payment is expected. Depending on how your host site is set-up, payment can be in the form of cash, personal check or credit card. Angel Food Ministries also accepts food stamps as a payment option.

All of the orders are gathered by the host sites and forwarded to the Georgia warehouse at the first of each month. The food is then transported by semi-trucks to each of the states delivery locations and dropped off. The orders are boxed up according to the individual order's and available for pick-up during each host sites specific dates and hours.

Angel Food Ministries is unable to deliver to individual homes.

How Much Does a Food Box Cost?

Typically one medium size box of food has $60 worth of items in it but only costs the customer $30. Families are able to get double the food for half the cost.

The menu's change each month and offer specialty boxes as well. See the example below of the items included in a standard food box for the low cost of $30.

Four pounds of chicken legs and thighs
Four ounces of beef ribs
One pound of lean ground beef
Two pounds of chicken tenders ( breaded)
