Sometimes life is unpredictable. You may just come back from an occasional business trip and you suddenly find out your credit card statement still lying quietly on your desk. You suddenly realize that you have been late for your credit card payment for several days.

What to Do? If You Forget to Pay Your Credit Card on Time

As you know, if you can’t pay off the minimum amount shown on the statement before due day, the bank will charge you a late fee. Furthermore, your credit is also in risk.

What you should do now?

If fact, if your payment is just in late for several days, less than one month, it’s still possible to negotiate with your bank for an exemption of this late fee under the following conditions:

- You have a decent credit;

- You always pay on time in the past.

If you are satisfied with the above two conditions, you may call the toll-free number on the back of your credit card and talk to the customer service representative. You should explain to the representative that you just forget to pay the credit card on time accidentally. Normally, the representative has the access to check your past payment records. Therefore, he or she can immediately know if you have a decent financial credit. If your credit record is decent, the representative has the right to remove the late fee from your account.
