The patterns are the same. Rich people or poor people, the difference is how they their minds work.

Why Poor People Remain Poor

I came from a poor family. But I know I will not remain poor forever. The state of being poor or being rich starts in our mind, on what we believe in. Being rich is not just about having a lot of money. It’s about how you make use of the money that you have. It’s about how you ‘value’ the true value of money. Everything starts in the mind. Thus, what’s making rich people rich starts in the mind, and what’s making poor people remain poor starts also in the mind…. So, why poor people remain poor? Here are some of the reasons why:

1. They believe it’s their birth right. Their parents were poor and so they have to be poor, also. Our family is a great part of who we are but we shouldn’t be bound by our family’s status of living. They shouldn’t define the kind of life we as individuals should have.

2. They are bad receivers. For them, it is better to give than to receive. This is taken from a passage that was written in Greek about 2,000 years ago, which actually says: "It's better to be in the position to be able to give than to be in a position to have to receive." I guess it’s only being translated the wrong way.

3. They feel unworthy to be rich. They wallow in the corner and cry “I don’t deserve to be rich.”

4. They believe that rich people are evil. I always hear from a lot of people saying “money is the root of all evil.” This is not true. These days, it’s hard to live without money. With it, you can build your house, you can help other people, and you can do a lot of things. Some say, you can’t buy happiness. I say they’re wrong. It depends on what you buy. Say, you buy a house for a homeless person; the happiness it will bring you is more than that it would give to the homeless. In that case, it’s just like you bought your own happiness. So, for me money is good.

Sometimes poor people remain poor because they spend their money unwisely, buying junk food, booze, and so forth, and having more children than they can afford.

I have moved closely with extremely wealthy people and when I get to know them I have realized the more wealth they accumulate the less happy and contented they are. Wealth accumulation becomes an obsession. Life is much more than getting addicted to wealth. In Asia, people generally give almost everything to their children and it becomes a liability for them. I work hard for decent returns and live with limited assets - siva

There is a lot of truth in what you wrote. Its difficult to reprogram a deep inborn belief. You write about a poverty mindset. I also know about family members that were financially very wealthy for over 40 years but lost it all due to the global economy. They are now entering a new chapter in their lives and I hope they find happiness they never had before.

You are right. Having money does not decide whether you are rich or poor.

There are some other factors too, For Example your expenses, savings and your lifestyle etc.
